February General Meeting & Training Class
The February meeting and training class will be held at the City of Buena Park's, City Yard. There will be a special AskMSA session lead by Mark Esquer (O.C. Sanitation District) on the topic of "Confined Space" with a focus on "Harness Setup Options."
Beginning at 9:00 a.m. there will be a two-hour class entitled "Silica Training Class" taught by “Ecologics Environmental Services” where each student receives a “Certificate for Completion” for attending the class. (See below for information on the class.
New OSHA Required Silica Class

Are you aware of the new OSHA silica rule? Come take the New OSHA Silica required workers awareness class. Who needs to take the class? Workers exposed to respirable crystalline silica. OSHA requires a written plan, providing proper training to the workers, medical surveillance, record-keeping and certified HEPA tools. Heavy fines can be imposed if non-compliant with 29CFR1926.1153. Silica is comprised of quartz, found naturally in most rocks, sand, soil, brick and concrete products. Exposure occurs when the following methods are performed on silica building materials: abrasion or sandblasting, cutting or sawing, crushing or demolishing, drilling, grinding, and jackhammering. It’s relevant to public works streets AND facility workers WHO do tile work, stucco, concrete repairs.
