POSTPONED 2020 Annual Conference

Executive Board and Delegate Action

2020 Annual Conference Postponed

The following email information was provided by William Ornelas, Los Angeles and Orange Area Chapter Delegate serving on the Executive Board.

Please forward the following information to our chapter board members, agency and vendor members as soon as possible. On June 4, 2020, the Executive Board met to discuss the gravity of the COVID-19 pandemic, the health and safety of MSA members, and COVID-19 impact on the scheduled 2020 Annual Conference. This conference was scheduled to be held in San Diego and sponsored by the San Diego Chapter. Following considerable discussion, it was decided by the Executive Board and its Chapter Delegates to postpone the 2020 San Diego conference 2021.

Annual conference arrangements are customarily scheduled in the future at least four years in advance. Postponing the San Diego conference to 2021 caused the following Annual Conferences to move forward by one year. The new schedule was agreed upon by each of the affected chapter leaders.

The new schedule is as follows: San Diego Chapter – 2021, Ventura Chapter 2022, Arizona Chapter 2023, and Los Angeles and Orange Area Chapter 2024.

A full report on the Executive Board meeting and its actions will be provided to members early next week.

POSTPONED - Clayton Trejo Scholarship Award Program

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), and the recent "Shelter in Place" order for counties in the area we serve, our Chapter has decided to postpone both the application due date as well as the presentation of the scholarship awards.  We understand that with many schools closed during this time that it may be very challenging to obtain the necessary documents required by the application process.

Please keep in mind that this is just a temporary postponement and not a full cancellation.  We assure you that we will provide ample time for each applicant to successfully submit an application.

We do pray for the sustained good health and safety of our MSA family.

Great News!  We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the annual Clayton Trejo Scholarship Award Program until April 30, 2020.  This program was developed to support students by giving Chapter financial aid to individuals who have already chosen their college career path to be in the Public Works field.  If this is you, we encourage you to download our program application, become familiar with the program criteria, and to mail your completed application to Gerard Batista at your earliest convenience.  Individuals selected to receive the awards will be invited to attend the annual Clayton Trejo Scholarship Award Program ceremony at the General Membership Meeting on June 9, 2020 to receive their award.
